Do not disturb (our heterosexuality): Nashville hotel forcibly checks out gays

We've been meaning to get to this story for the past few days but we've been getting sidetracked. The gist:

Nashville, TN
Two gay employees.
Fired from their jobs at the ARTE' Hotel.
Their gayness seems to be the reason.
Yes, really.
No you didn't read your calendars wrong -- it really is 2009.

Here's some video news about the first firing, this one of (now former) human resources director David Hill. Report comes from WSMV, Nashville's NBC affiliate:

And here's some written news about the second firing, this one of the second man featured in the above piece, (now former) Asst. General Manager Leonard Stoddard:

Former Asst. General Manager Leonard Studdard's employment was terminated by hotel owner Tarun Surti via email on Thursday, Jan. 8.

Stoddard's termination follows that of David Hill who was fired last week from the hotel. Stoddard and Hill claim that they were fired because of Surti's anti-homosexual views. But, Surti maintains that both men were fired for other reasons.

Surti said in an email to Stoddard that he was fired because he lied to the media about Hill's termination.

The ex-employees claim that they were fired after Surti received a letter from a former employee which outted the hotel's gay staff.

Geez, two firings? What's the ARTE in the hotel's name stand for: Allied Reservations To End? Always Remove Transgender Employees? Anti-Reasonable Terminations Employed? Another Reason To ENDA (bias)?

**NOTE: On Saturday, January 17 at 9AM, a demonstration will be held outside the hotel (760 Old Hickory Blvd, Brentwood, TN).

I was also less-than-happy with the reporter's usage of "sexual preference." Over the years, I've contacted several local news outlets to correct such errors. I'll shoot an email to this reporter right now.

"Sexual preference" and "lifestyle" both annoyed me, as well.
