Oscar loves Harvey

by Jeremy Hooper

Milk SeanpennOscar nominations were announced this morn', and Milk did pretty okay. Josh Brolin and Sean Penn both received acting nods, Gus van Sant received a directing nomination, Dustin Lance Black got an original screenplay nod, and the film itself is in Best Picture contention.

Somewhere in America, Anita Bryant is crying in her orange juice.

**UPDATE: The film also got nominations in the areas of costume design, film editing, and original score. So from our count, that's eight nods in all!

Your thoughts

Oh Yeah...you're on it....Here from NYTimes:
'“Milk,” an entry from Focus Features about the late gay rights activist Harvey Milk, nabbed eight nominations, including best picture, best director (Gus Van Sant), best actor (Sean Penn) and best supporting actor (Josh Brolin). The showing was something of a comeback for the film, which the fluffier Golden Globes ignored.'

Can't wait...he's got to get it!
