Was this Ken's 'action figure'?

by Jeremy Hooper

"Friend." "Roommate." "Special pal."

We gays are familiar with the kinds of terms that homo-squeamish aunts might use while introducing our partners at holiday parties. And it seems that back in the mid-60's, Barbie's parents at Mattel had their own special term for Ken's close friend:

Ken's-"buddy"

Ooh, it's his "buddy"!  Oh and look, the boys even swap clothes!  So sweet.  We always say that's one of the biggest perks of being...a doll.

they're very "close" [the blog of "unnecessary" quotations marks]

They look like they are in Jr. High.
(As I am typing this, I noticed a Google Ad over to the right advertising Barbie collecter dolls on E-bay...wonder if they have Allan?????)

I always knew my sister's Ken doll was gay. At least he was after I finished with him.

I'm having a difficult time coming to terms with those shorts. Must've been mighty tough to prevent things from peeking out and saying hey to buddy ken... I mean, how would allan even sit down in those?

It's not quotations - my mom had one, it's an (R) and a tm after the buddy.

Well aren't you a party pooper, Corvidae :-)

But actually, looking at it again, it looks like you're right. Weird, because even some people on eBay have listed it as quotes. Yours in the first Internet mention I've seen that cites it as an (r)/tm.

Oh well. He's still quite "buddy"-seeming.

My question would be, of course, how allan knows that ALL kens clothes fit him, either they are very good friends with their clothes *cough* or they've swapped enough items to be sure...
Either way.

Is that money in Allan's hand? He's a rent boy??!? *chuckle*
