Prop 8 is wrong, to the letter

by Jeremy Hooper

MarryweekPeople in love with both their country and their partners.

Reasoned arguments stifled by irrational fear.

Onward we push, refusing to be bullied into silence.

Peacefully protesting wrongheaded decisions, rulings, or ballot initiatives.

Only thing? Our principled stands are misrepresented as "attacks" and "militancy."

Self-appointed moral authorities deny us of our own, making us sound as evil as possible.

It's enraging, both the bashing and the anti-intellectualism.

They trade off truth in favor of talking points

Irresponsibly using terms like "sanctity" and "family protection."

Oh you're the nice guys?! Then why is my pain so real?

Never mind that they inject religion into what should be a civil matter.

Ecclesiastes trumps the right to privacy or the Equal Protection Clause?

I don't think so, Dr. Dobson!

God is a citizens' choice -- fairness under the law is not!

How dare you deny my family so as to embolden your own life (and wallet)?

This Freedom to Marry Week, I pledge to stand up to these offensive attacks in even greater ways than before! Hopefully you'll join me.
