Audio: Barber still trying to make Buttars defense happen

Far be it from us to give our organized opposition any advice. But if we were charged with increasing a right-wing group's relevancy, we certainly wouldn't encourage them to strongly defend Utah state senator Chris Buttars, a man whose unhinged anti-gay comments are earning the wrath of even fellow GOP lawmakers.

200903061121However, Buttars defense is exactly what the Concerned Women For America and their ol' buddy Matt Barber are doing in a new audio piece:

Yea Matt? The vast majority of Utahans support the idea that gays are America's biggest threat, that LGBT people have no morals, and that homosexuality is a perversion? That's the direction towards which you want to haul the GOP: Towards a world where gay people are even more maligned than they were in the Falwellian past?

Well good luck with that, big guy. But CWA, if you all wish to prove that your concerns are more than a con, we would surely advise you to back away from he who whose Republican elephant has an insatiable appetite for any and everything that makes LGBT people seem like decent human beings.

The full audio is much worse, but unfortunately we can no longer find it anywhere on the net. Reed Cowan's YouTube page seems to have disappeared, and the Utah ABC affiliate that had previously posted Cowan's audio seems to have removed it.

Your thoughts

It's not even true that the Republicans attacked this idiot. According to the reports on Box Turtle Bulletin, the leadership of the Republican Party stood by what the guy said. The man's only flaw, apparently, was speaking on a subject which he'd previously agreed not to speak on.
