Even in this economy, gay Floridians can count on the Rich
Nan Rich, the Florida state senator who's been trying for the past few years to rid the Sunshine State of its noxious ban on gay adoptions, is back on her game again this legislative session:
State Sen. Nan Rich, a Weston Democrat who is co-chair of the Senate Children & Families Committee, has filed a bill to repeal the 1977 Florida law that prohibits gay men and lesbians from adopting children. A second bill would specify that judges would determine adoptions based solely on ''the best interests'' of children.

So why should we care this year more than others? Well, we have favorable court decisions on our side that suggest what we have always known to be true: That Anita Bryant's banny baby is and has always been unconstitutional. And while those rulings are awaiting appeal, one would think that Rich's fellow lawmakers might pay them some mind, considering that maybe, just maybe, the judiciary knows a thing or two about such matters. And maybe they'll see an interest/need in being the ones to put the kibosh on the les-gay-bi-wash.

IMAGINE, just imagine asking legislators to do something in the 'interest of children.' I do hope they pay attention. And did you see where that 14 year adoption case in Israel finally resulted in a postitive result. The 'child' is now 30, but also a legal son!
