NOM: A bona fide Youtube star (and we do mean star, singular)

by Jeremy Hooper

A week or so ago, we showed you just how horribly the YouTube community was receiving not only the National Organization For Marriage's "Gathering Storm" ad, but also the totality of their video offerings. But since NOM has in subsequent days announced just how thoroughly thrilled they are with all of the press they are receiving, and just how thoroughly thrilled they are about their heightened viewership, we thought we'd check back in and see the way that all this "positive" attention has affected their YT standing. Enjoy:

Ooh, you're right NOM -- you're up from a 1.17 to a 1.18 star rating (if we're generously rounding up)! Good show, kids!!!!

Your thoughts

It is my opinion that not all press is good press. I believe NOM is becoming an object of derision and not soon enough!

And Fred Karger is going full blast with Mormongate. Apparently they did provide the startup funding for NOM. But I submit that the Roman Catholic Church is knee deep in the shit too.

I tried to find that ad earlier today to show my sister the hilarious badness, and I couldn't even find it because there were so many parodies. Beautiful.

Matthew Holland, Mormon scion, has quit the NOM board.

How sad is it when even the Mormons can't stand you any longer, Maggie?

NOM = Fred Phelps. If they like that math, then they're doing great. They are on the wrong side of history, the world has changed, and their rhetoric will be seen as the bigoted, small-minded blather that it is.

And the only reason they have the .18 is because they disabled ratings on the videos that had more than 1 star to save that meager extra bit.
