Can't forget the fear quotes
It must be tough to be a copyeditor at the uber-conservative One News Now. Having most likely trained in proper journalistic procedure, your instinct is to write the word marriage as all your credible journalism training has told you it should be. But your bosses force you to instead write the word, at least when it applies to gay couples, surrounded by fear quotes. It's a difficult situation which can sometimes force the poor writer to edit what is both technically proper and personally instinctual so as to please his or her American Family Association superiors.
This improperly punctuated re-edit just popped up in our One News Now RSS feed:
DC council approves same-sex 'marriage' legislation ['AP' via ONN]
Stay inaccurate and fear-monger, One News Now! We know it doesn't feel right, even to many of your own.
That's TOO funny! But, then, I suppose the writers get a little sloppy under the stress of looking for new jobs.

Haha, that's hilarious. I like the "Bbibles" typo as well.

See, I thought they only hired from Jerry Falwell's and Pat Robertson's colleges to avoid such problems! Learn something every day...

GEL: I think even most Liberty Univ. students know that writing marriage in fear quotes is absurd. It's just so childish.
We put "pro-family" and "ex-gay" in quotes, because those are adopted, opportunistic code words that don't accurately define the situational realities. But marriage is a concrete concept. Whether you with the concept or not, a same-sex civil marriage is still a marriage.
