John-eichelbergerPennsylvania state senator John Eichelberger (R-Blair) will today announce plans to introduce an anti-gay marriage amendment:

What: Announcement of Marriage Amendment
When: May 19, 2009; 10:45 AM
Where: Blair County Courthouse Steps, Hollidaysburg, PA
Senator Eichelberger to Introduce Marriage Amendment [Senator Eichelberger]

An action that will inevitably be followed by this development:

Who: Pennsylvania citizens
What: Disgust over the discrimination that was fostered in the first part of the 21st century
When: The very near future
Where: The classroom, dinner table, television, or any place where civil rights missteps are discussed.
How: In casual conversation, political campaigning, instruction, and documentary films covering this nation's various forms of discrimination
Why: Because with time's passage, onetime accepted biases are always realized to be wrong!

Your thoughts

At least they have Yuengling, Hershey, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. *sighs* I hope this doesn't work out.

There is also a PA bill bogged down in committee for just basic anti-discrimination rights for lgbt people.

So equal marriage coming to more states and this bill are scaring people.

I lobbied for the anti-discrimination bill; I'll lobby against this, too.

Now is the time to fight, and nothing is more effective than a face-to-face meeting with your state legislators.

*gets down from her soapbox*

Ugh...seriously? I'm already disgusted. After all of the progress being made, especially in the northeast, we had better not be the ones to take a giant step backwards. We've already been pushing for the passage of the anti-discrimination bill. Looks like it's time to rally the troops again.
