'Dr. Making Gay Love seem like Strangelove' or: How Maggie Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the DOMA
Maggie Gallagher and her National Organization For Marriage love, love, love, love, LOVE the Defense Of Marriage Act. NOM has set up shop in the nation's capital for the sole purpose of defending DOMA, and they are fundraising on the back of the Clinton era law. In fact, in a new NOM email solicitation, the group has former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum saying the following in order to drum up some cash:
But you know what's "funny" about all this? That Maggie Gallagher herself was actually not so fond of DOMA back a the time of its passage. To mid-90's Mags, it was not "carefully written" or a "Strong firewall." To that Doc Martens and flannel incarnation of Maggie, DOMA was "timid," with its backers failing to show enough "moral confidence" to pass a stronger measure:

We could probably entice her over onto our side today! Seems pretty clear that she is a big whore for whomsoever will offer up a paycheck. Probably really wouldn't be that expensive either...
