Unlike other would-be authors, she'll be haggard before ever writing a word

gayle-haggardAccording to the AP, Ted Haggard's ironically first-three-lettered wife Gayle will write a memoir about her husband's sex scandal, which will be titled Why I Stayed:

Ted Haggard's Wife to Release 'Tell-all' Book [AP via KRDO]

So her wedding made her haggard -- will her writing explain why she's still that way? Only Kindles of the future know for sure.

Though just be sure not to confuse this Bush era gay sex scandal tome with Mrs. Larry Craig's own planned memoir: Why I'd Stance.

Your thoughts

I don't need to read an entire book to figure out why she stayed. How many pages can a person devote to:
"I was in total denial"
"I'm an eternal optimist"
"I'm a masochist"
"I can't afford financially to leave him"
"I'm an idiot"
"I was being emoptionally blackmailed by him and the church"
"I'm filled with self-loathing"
Did I leave anything out?

Actually, I'm interested. I'm always fascinated by what makes women stay with men who've been in high-profile sex scandals. (So are a lot of people--CBS will have a whole TV show about a politician's wife whose husband was in a sex scandal this fall.) I'll probably check it out of the library.

My take on this regardless of the fact that her husband had an affair with another man - isn't one of the most important marriage vows "for better or worst"? - Maybe she actually meant it(one would hope anyone who gets married would be willing to stand by their vows.)
