Self-defacing: West Virginia church shows antipathy for
Reacting to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's decision to allow openly gay clergy and to support marriage equality, a West Virginia pastor, Richard Mahan, has altered his building's sign so that it simply reads:
Church changes signage after controversial vote on homosexuality [Daily Mail]
That'll show 'em!
**LISTEN: This is a snippet from Pastor Mahan's 8/23 sermon, wherein he suggests that a hidden message was contained in the ELCA's vote:
And here's another, in which Pastor Mahan joins some of his fellows in blaming an area tornado on the gay vote:
So in 50 years when churches are desperate to deny they EVER opposed gays how do you think these pricks are gonna hide the fact that they did everything possible to shun gays?
I know its possible, despite it being a historical fact the mormons didn't give blacks full membership until 1978 I still haven't found one that will admit they're church ever hated blacks.
Did anyone who live then know how the mormons whitewashed their history after getting a 'revelation' that they would lose money if they kept being racist? It seems impossible to believe something as big as that can be forgotten, but i'd bet money someone will try to convert my kids someday and conveniently forget to mention their church spent assloads of time and money making mommie's life shitty.

Religion is a meme, memes are viruses, and viruses evolve as their hosts change. One day, all this anti-gay religious dogma will be a thing of the past.
Until then, let bigots like these alienate themselves from their own religious communities - It just speeds up the process of weeding out unnecessary hate.
