Video: The sanctity of [legally barred] marriage

by Jeremy Hooper

Woodstock. The moon landing. The most sexually suggestive year on the 20th century's calendar.

Add this Pine Tree State gay couple as another thing that's celebrating its 40th anniversary this year:

Maine Couple Celebrates 40th Anniversary [PHB]

Ugh. How inhumanely condescending of Stand For Marriage Maine's Marc Mutty! He's talking about these two men's four decade union as if it's a soufflé that can never rise because someone forgot the eggs. In terms of marital arrogance, it ranks somewhere in between a bride who sends her invited guests her checking account routing number so that friends and family can directly deposit her wedding gift, and a drunken uncle who rises during a ceremony's "speak now or forever hold your peace" and cites his magic 8 ball as reason why the betrothed couple should walk away pre-"I do." Except, of course, Mr. Mutty's brazen action has the extra element of destroying constitutional guarantees in the name of supposedly state-separated religion, which kinda puts him in a special category to which no Bridezilla or inappropriate relative could never hope to aspire!
