Video: This isn't even low road, just a ridiculous detour

by Jeremy Hooper

We've seen some ridiculous campaign ads before. But the following spot from the New Jersey gubernatorial race, which is an official video that was put together by Republican foe of marriage equality Chris Christie, has got to be in the fast lane towards becoming the most vacuous attack ad ever waged against a political candidate:

Ooh, Gov. Jon Corzine misspoke and called a road an "expressway" rather than a "parkway." What a burn! What next, Mr, Christie: Gonna blow the lid off the time that Corzine announced he was going to the beach rather than the shore?!

And this detour into label accuracy is interesting, since Chris Christie is the candidate who says he has "no issue" with gay residents sharing contractual rights, just so long as they don't dare call it a marriage. Because you know: Why should a potential state executive leader support equalizing the term that they grant to all of their tax-paying constituents' legal unions, when he can instead waste time and energy acting like a third grader who takes pleasure "neener, neener"-ing a friend's benign tongue slip?

Your thoughts

WHAT?? Seriously, WTF??

They allow no comments or ratings on YouTube since they know they would be inundated with terrible criticism and low stars.

Chris Christie is a crooked politician but sadly NJ has a habit of cutting off their noses to spite their faces and voting in a moronic GOP candidate.

Unfortunately the NJ Dems are only slightly better than the Republicants. I can't see anyone changing their votes because of a gaffe, but then again, a lot of my fellow NJ residents don't know what a gaffe is.

Chris Christie? Who would name their kid Christopher Christie? Sort of like Bob Roberts...
