Yes on 1's biggest donor: An examination (Vol. 4)
This from Mormon Times, 7/24/08
If America becomes a place where our children are taken from us by law and forced to attend schools where they are taught that cohabitation is as good as marriage, that motherhood doesn't require a husband or father, and that homosexuality is as valid a choice as heterosexuality for their future lives, then why in the world should married people continue to accept the authority of such a government?
What these dictator-judges do not seem to understand is that their authority extends only as far as people choose to obey them.
How long before married people answer the dictators thus: Regardless of law, marriage has only one definition, and any government that attempts to change it is my mortal enemy. I will act to destroy that government and bring it down, so it can be replaced with a government that will respect and support marriage, and help me raise my children in a society where they will expect to marry in their turn.
-Writer Orson Scott Card
This from the National Organization For Marriage, 4/32/09:
NATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR MARRIAGE WELCOMES ORSON SCOTT CARD TO ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
(Princeton, NJ) – Orson Scott Card, a distinguished novelist, a professor of writing and literature at Southern Virginia University, and a columnist, recently joined the board of directors of the National Organization of Marriage (NOM).
"We’re extremely honored that Orson Scott Card has joined with NOM in our shared mission to protect marriage and the faith communities that sustain it," said Maggie Gallagher, president of NOM, "He is one of the great science fiction writers of our time and a real voice of courage and intellect on behalf of marriage."
Wow, a gay-supportive government (like presumably that of Maine) is one that should be overthrown? And one who says something like that is fit to serve on the board of single largest donor to Maine's "yes on 1" campaign?
$1.1 million of the $1.4 million raised by Stand for Marriage Maine in October came from a single source: the National Organization for Marriage. In fact, the Washington, D.C., organization has bankrolled more than 60 percent of the campaign to ban same-sex marriages in Maine.
Money fueling battle over gay marriage [Bangor Daily News]
The National Organization For Marriage: This group is extremist. This group is unfair. This group is hellbent on destroying anything who gets on their narrow path. At this point, this group (coupled with the Catholic church, to which NOM is strongly tied) essentially is Stand For Marriage Maine (the group pushing the 'Yes on 1' side) .
We have one week to defeat this group. What will you do to help?
It's a good thing Orson Scott Card is already an American, because with what he wrote, he would not be able to apply for a green card.

Orson Scott Card should have his citizenship revoked. He really doesn't understand the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

I bought some of Orson Scott Card's books years ago, never knew he was such a whacko or else I wouldn't of bought them. Once I read this and found out he was a member of NOM, I immediately found them on my shelve and plopped them in the garbage where they belong.
