(City)Hallmark holiday: NYCers will [again] seek license to legally love

by Jeremy Hooper

This Friday, February 12, 2010 a MASSIVE, unprecedented public protest and political action will take place in New York City at the Manhattan Marriage License Bureau, located at 141 Worth Street (@ Centre Street), beginning at 8:00am. WHAT YOU CAN DO --Outside Show up at 8:00am and gather. Bring signs, chant and support those participating in the action. Protest! We are expecting a large media presence for the Press Conference, and large numbers make an impact on our goals. (NOTE - Though we encourage you to bring signs DO NOT attach them to sticks or poles [cardboard tubes if you feel the need to hold them that high]. Under NYPD guidelines, sticks and poles that support protest signs are considered potential weapons - seriously) Dress warm and dress comfortably Bring snacks and drinks for yourself and to share DO NOT bring illegal drugs on medications not prescribed to you. In other words, use common sense. We do not want you to risk yourself or the group by bringing anything that could be perceived as an arrestable offense. Bring legal, state-issued identification card or Driver's License in the event you are asked to identify yourself by law enforcement -Inside-Bring a friend or lover of the same gender to the Marriage License Bureau and ask for a marriage license. GET DENIED! This is perfectly legal and there is no risk of arrest. Larger numbers of DENIED couples will also visually impact the message we are sending
