One in tin: OK gay seeks 'IM GAY' okay
A 28-year-old Oklahoma resident is suing the state on 1st Amendment grounds. Why, you ask? Well, because his request to have "IM GAY" printed on his license plate was nipped in the tailpipe:
"I want to tell people who I am and what I am. I’m proud of it. I’m openly gay. I’m not hiding,” said Keith Kimmel, 28, of Norman. "What better way to tell everybody than to put it on the back of a car?”

You know, lest some poor, impressionable Mini Cooper be indoctrinated. After all, we gotta protect the little ones from that militant vanity plate agenda. [::eye roll, head shake::]
Proving that he has the mettle to fight for his metal, the denied Sooner, Keith Kimmel, has vowed to appeal any ruling that keeps him away from his firmly un-closeted bumper. We wish him nothing but luck. Or if not luck, then the money to buy the gayest car that ever gayed, so that he won't need a plate to drive either himself or his point home.

The height of irony is that they probably would approve any vanity plates that read:
U R GAY
SO GAY (?? depending on the inference)

I fully support him, but in the (likely) event he loses, I say he should bumper sticker his car to death with gay-friendly stickies.

I had 'REPEAL 8' on my California license b4 getting rid of my car - made me very self-conscious and exposed, especially when in traffic and someone in a neighboring car would acknowledge it. Every time someone did, it got me thinking to myself that if I were next to someone unfriendly, I might be in for some real trouble.
