Front kicks to 'Sidekicks': Vander Plaat Chuckin' with Iowa's fair ruling from all sides

by Jeremy Hooper

Republican Bob Vander Plaats is running for Iowa governor on an aggressively anti-equality platform:

Soon enough, he'll be running on an aggressively "Walker Texas Ranger"-y platform:

DES MOINES – Internationally known actor and martial arts champion Chuck Norris will appear at events in Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and Council Bluffs for Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats during the final days of the primary election.

Vander Plaats’ campaign announced today that Norris, who writes a nationally syndicated column and is active in conservative and pro-family causes, will be in Iowa on June 4 and 5.

Though if it's all the same to you, we're going to keep listening to the unanimous panel of Supreme Court justices, the civics teachers who understand why we don't vote on minority rights in this nation, the politicians who are in public service to fix and not weaken this world, and the countless gay couples who are living their lives in peace while grown social conservatives flit around them like pesky houseflies hellbent on leaving poop marks on their sandwiches. When we need to learn how to take down an entire plane of terrorists with only our bare hands and our cunning, then we'll check with Chuck.

**UPDATE: Speaking of Chucks: Chuck Hurley -- the Iowa Family Policy Council head who hugs Vander Plaat at the end of the above video and whose organization endorses him in this one -- once said this of gay teens and their supportive allies:

"Adults, pray for administrators, teachers, and students to be drawn to the love of God and his Truth through supernatural intervention. Students, pray throughout the day for the salvation and healing of "openly gay" students."

Hopefully just hoping the Iowa Family Policy Council's endorsement of Vander Plaat doesn't come with any promised educational department appointments!
