Show me your fits: Heath who wishes to best us, now breasts us

by Jeremy Hooper

Mike-HeathThis Friday in Farmington, ME, there will be a "Topless March for Gender Equity," which, according to organizers, is meant to (a) highlight the fact that it's not illegal to go topless in the state of Maine, and (b) to expose the double standard that turns a blind eye to male top nudity but shuns the same for females.

There's no connection to gay rights. At all. None whatsoever. But when has a little thing like the truth ever stopped Maine's most incendiary foe of the'mos, Mike Heath, from anti-gay condemnation? This from the Portland Press Herald:

With tension already high over a topless march planned for Friday, Michael Heath of the American Family Association of Maine called public nudity "the most objectionable feature of homosexual rights marches."
...
Heath said he draws a connection between the march in Farmington and his records request because "the promotion and presentation of public nudity is a staple of the homosexual rights movement."

Ugh, what a boobish view!

But this is not surprising, since in the past we have seen Mr. Heath blame bad weather, local graffiti, national economic crises, and numerous other thoroughly unrelated things on gays and their rights (or even most basic tolerance thereof). There are certain "culture war" Christians who are undeniably obsessed with gay lives and loves, and Mike Heath is certainly towards the front of that oddly hobbied pack.
