Rosie O'Donnell's kids will be peskily overachieving for a reason

by Jeremy Hooper

You didn't see any of the "pro-family" sites report on this study today. But don't be fooled: Their disregard for the data was a decision not an oversight:

The authors found that children raised by lesbian mothers — whether the mother was partnered or single — scored very similarly to children raised by heterosexual parents on measures of development and social behavior. These findings were expected, the authors said; however, they were surprised to discover that children in lesbian homes scored higher than kids in straight families on some psychological measures of self-esteem and confidence, did better academically and were less likely to have behavioral problems, such as rule-breaking and aggression.

Ooh, so wait a minute: We think finally get it! When the social conservatives continually toss around the word "indoctrination," they're not really accusing lesbians and gays of something evil. No, no -- they're accurately assessing the enhanced possibility that in a same-gendered parent-filled nation, there will be more doctors. Wow, it all makes so much sense now!

And who can blame them for mistakenly thinking that's what the word "indoctrination" means? Poor dears: They were all raised by heterosexuals.

So yea: Take comfort, fellow gays, for it's not that our political adversaries want to keep us from adoption because they think we are sick and evil. It's just that they want their own kids to at least have a fighting chance in the spelling bee! Epiphany = me.
