Video: And now another installment of the 'ex-gay with pained background' saga

by Jeremy Hooper

Once again, "The 700 Club" and a professional "ex-gay" are misdirecting the pain of a difficult childhood, the regrets of poor adult choices, and cosmetic choices like "unfeminine" sweat pants and turning those into a repudiation of one certain sexual orientation.

Start the clip at the 17:50 mark, then definitely stick it out past the story itself, when host pastor Gordon Robertson demonstrates his apparent belief that a soft, gravelly delivery is equal to scientifically credible resonance:

Bad news: Ugh. So gross the way it's like "molestation, drug abuse, pain -- gayness." And such a dangerous message to send, especially to youth.

Good news: I've always preferred olive oil to snake oil anyway. The former may be extra virgin, but it's the latter that seeks to make me celibate.
