Audio: Minnesota Family Council becomes even more of a liability to 2012 'protect marriage' fight

by Jeremy Hooper

And now we have more from Barb Anderson, the top researcher for the group that's leading the charge to write a marriage ban into Minnesota's constitution, the Minnesota Family Council. Because once again we have concrete evidence of Minnesota's primary "protect marriage" group -- the organization that has already partnered with the National Organization For Marriage in anticipation of the 2012 ballot fight -- proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that their larger goals involve far more than gay people's open bars, best man speeches, or chicken dances. So let's get this eye-opening party started, shall we?

(*all clips come from Peter LaBarbera's Christian radio program*)

Clip 1: Barb suggests that "a lot" of gay teens have been sexually abused, which is why they are "sexually confused" and in need of "change":

Clip 2: People are not tolerant if they reject the complete and utter anti-science known as the "ex-gay" movement:

Clip 3: Young people are primarily supporting equality for their LGBT friends just because it's trendy, without realizing they are getting on a "train that is leading down a track that is going to be very harmful to them and their friends":

Clip 4: Even Don't Ask Don't Tell repeal (aka "government sanctioned homosexuality in the military") is off the table:

Clip 5: And again with the "ex-gay" movement: Barb admits to trying to push that into schools in the name of "equal time":

Clip 6: And then there's this outright lie about the supposedly innate public health hazards of homosexuality, which even trumps Paul Cameron's resoundingly discredited "research":

Clip 7: Now let's close out with this, Peter and Barb's scoffing at the Southern Poverty Law Center's hate groups list, with Barb going so far as to call it a "badge of honor":

This is your chief "protect marriage" lobby, Minnesota. You now have about seventeen months to decide where to hitch your state's wagon: Onto the rocket jet of peaceful progress, or onto the regressively science-shunning movement that so clearly sees closets as the only acceptable home for not only the lesbian bridal gown, but also the Sapphic sister herself.

We won't tell you how to vote: But we'll make damn sure you know what they're saying.
