Audio: What the NY opposition really wants: To 'save' Tom Duane and Danny O'Donnell

Rev Jason McGuire is the guy you will see in the press (The New York Times, Poughkeepsie Journal, NY1, local TV, etc) most prominently representing the opposition movement in NY state. Also the guy who is currently traveling around on the "Mayday For Marriage" tour, rallying the pro-inequality troops.

This is what he really wants out of his efforts:

"When we're talking about a Senator Duane
or an Assemblyman O'Donnell who's sponsoring same-sex marriage,
we're not only talking about a legislator
that is taking a position against God's word,
but a legislator who, if they die without Jesus Christ,
dies without a home in Heaven and an eternity in Hell"

The most galling part of this? That Rev. McGuire is going to feel this way about us (and apparently anyone whose faith is not Jesus-centric or Jesus-centric enough for his liking) regardless of whether or not we have civil marriage equality or not. Yet even though we have no possibility of winning in his eyes, he still gets to use his personal, self-satisfied opinions about our eternal futures to compound our mortal losses. And as a citizen of America, he gets to have his 100% faith-based motivation widely accepted as an equal viewpoint in this supposed church-state-separated conversation: A conversation that will in no way -- IN NOW WAY! -- change Mr. McGuire's religious practices or freedoms, even those that pertain to religious marriage ceremonies themselves.

It's simply unbelievable, the number of indignities we are forced to endure.
