Sacred [cash] cows: The Family Leader seeks church vote, church lucre

by Jeremy Hooper

Family-leaderYou know The Family Leader, that anti-LGBT Iowa group that's extreme enough to support seminars that liken gay people to cigarette smoking yet establishment enough to still host a lecture series featuring all of the GOP leading light candidates? Well it turns out that group is on the cusp of launching a new website (likely to scrub away the remaining evidence of the "Second Hand Effects" program). And while the site is not yet live, we found a workaround that let's us access (http://www.thefamilyleader.com/temp/). And through said access, we found a planned program that is pretty darn unbelievable, even for our reliably opportunistic opposition. Have a look:

Become a Church Ambassador

A Church Ambassadorship is for churches committed to equipping families, mentoring marriages, and influencing the culture in all social spheres for the glory of God and the benefit of mankind.

Church Ambassador
Becoming a Church Ambassador is a relationship which opens many doors to strengthen families in your church, your community, and your state.

Fundamentally, becoming a Church Ambassador is like supporting any other missionary working to impact a chosen community, foreign or domestic. Our ministry, however, can give back to you and your church in tangible ways.

For a $1000 commitment per year, the following opportunities are available:

For your church:
Training and materials for a church staff person and five prospective mentor couples for a Marriage Matters® mentoring program in your church
Marriage Matters® promotional videos and materials to help promote marriage mentoring in your church

Complimentary access for your pastor and spouse to The FAMiLY LEADER events

Complimentary/discounted access for Marriage Matters® Leadership Couple retreats

Access to a speaker from The FAMiLY LEADER to fill your pulpit one Sunday per year

Annual legal advice seminar from Chuck Hurley and Alliance Defense Fund

For your community:
Special access to pertinent news affecting your hometown, state, and nation via emails and regular conference calls

One training for The Truth Project© at your church for leadership

For the state of Iowa:
Direct representation of your Christian values at the Iowa Statehouse (provided)

Free legal assistance for special circumstances is available to all churches and pastors in Iowa. Your church’s continued support makes this possible.

Call Dave Barnett at 866-704-7500, ext. 21 to sign-up or for more information.

Yes that's right: The Family Leader is not only hoping to indoctrinate church congregations with their gayness = "distorted sexual behavior" talking points (yes, they actually say that), but they are now planning to CHARGE these churches for the service. So they not only want to use the church to affect the civil lives of others: They are also hoping to use the church to affect their own organizational bank account.

Good work, if you can get it, I guess.
