Copy editing, AFA style
Always funny to witness the American Family Association's obvious war on language firsthand. Like check this out. Earlier this morning, this was the headline that popped into our RSS reader, courtesy of the AFA's One News Now site:
Okay, fine. Personally, this writer would say the freedom to marriage or marriage equality instead of gay marriage. But it's fine. Not wrong.
Fast forward to a few minutes later. Someone at the AFA got wind of the reality-based headline, or perhaps the organization's anti-transparency signal...
...went off. And this altered headline came into the RSS feed:
Fear quotes. Gay changes to "homosexual." The AFA's fragile readership protected for yet another day.
Though the weirdest part? That the American Family Assocaition, which spends about 3/4 of its organizational day scheming up news ways to slight the countless American Families which play accommodating host to LGBT human beings, has yet to to alter or punctuate its own misleading name.
