Maiming the 'Dr. Turek merely protects marriage' meme

by Jeremy Hooper

Groups like the American Family Association and National Organization For Marriage, outfits that are always in search of the next victim to turn into a martyr, have been working the idea that Dr. Frank Turek was recently relieved of his duties leading programs for Cisco Systems simply because he opposes same-sex marriage:

So okay. NOM has the right to defend Mr. Turek against a certain corporate decision. Such is their organizational right.

However, they and everyone else should know/own the breadth of what they are defending. Because the truth is that Dr. Turek goes WAAAAAAAAAAAAY beyond simply opposing marriage equality for same-sex couples, and instead promotes the idea that gay people are embracing harmful and "changeable" behavior -- behavior on par with that of sociopaths, alcoholics, or even gay-bashers. Here's about nine minutes of him doing just that:

And this is just one part. If you click on the embedded YouTube, you will find five other parts that reject gay people in every way humanly (and inhumanely) possible. Subject yourself to as much or as little as you like.

So yeah: defend away, NOM. Just be honest about what exactly you're defending.
