Class(y) action: GLSEN schools FRC on Family Research accuracy

by Jeremy Hooper

Screen Shot 2011-08-15 At 5.24.09 PmRemember that clip I showed you wherein Family Research Council and specifically that group's president, Tony Perkins, blatantly lied about GLSEN and a document the organization didn't create or willingly distribute? Yeah, well -- today this happened:

This morning, GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network) issued a cease-and-desist letter via its attorneys to the Family Research Council "demanding that FRC cease distribution and publication of a video clip containing false and defamatory statements about GLSEN, as well as any other similar false and defamatory statements that may be contained in a longer video associated with that video clip."

So far no response from FRC. Though if that org's typically echo-chamber-dwelling defiance is any guide, their expressed concern for the C&D letter will likely fall somewhere between twisted victimization and "here, go shred this for me."

But the defiance can't last forever. Good on GLSEN for taking this stand!
