Jury of *their* peers: Social cons against gays giving gay-centric verdicts
We've seen the social conservatives go after openly-gay judges who preside over cases involving constitutional fairness for LGBT people. Now a new target: Gay jurors:
"There are a million reasons why someone might want to not include someone who is a practicing homosexual from a jury, especially [from a case] that has to do with homosexuality," the MassResistance spokesman [Brian Camenker] points out. "This is very dangerous, I think."
At issue: 'Gay' jurors [One News Now]
So once again, we have a social conservative -- in this case a head of a SPLC "hate group", speaking to an outlet run by an SPLC "hate group" -- quite unapologetically suggesting that only heterosexual people have the right to hear and decide on matters pertaining to LGBT people. Never mind that heterosexual jurors here straight-related cases every second of every day. Never mind that any LGBT person's body of peers most likely does include other LGBT people. Never mind that anti-equality voices like Camenker have no problem with bias motivations against LGBT people entering a jury pool, with them surely seeing themselves as completely fit to give a verdict in such cases. The heterosexist/LGBT-hostile goal is to shut out LGBT opinions from every facet of life. Period. The jury's not out on that point.
These are the kind of overplayed, parentally un-American hands that will win us this "culture war."
