NOM puts words in Gov. Cuomo's mouth; that they have no better tactic pretty much proves his point

So what Gov. Cuomo said is that discrimination against gay people is always at the end of the "protect marriage" thread, if one pulls it long enough. And he's right. No matter how it's spun or justified, at the end of the line is always the idea that same-sex couples deserved to be discriminated against, even if people like Maggie Gallagher justify the with lines like "It's not discrimination to treat different things differently."
But to NOM, the paraphrase of that is "Disagree with gay marriage and you are an irrational bigot"? HUH?! Why? Where in the governor's words does he ascribe any sort of motivation onto the individuals? All he said is that discrimination is at root, not that one need be either "irrational" or a "bigot" to stand for such discrimination. In many cases, misinformation (from the likes of NOM) is the big reason why people stand against marriage equality, not true animus. I know this. Cuomo knows this. And NOM knows this, which is why duping folks with misinformation is at their organizational forefront.
Oh, and course NOM also knows that portraying their movement as the victimized one is key to flipping this "culture war" script, which is why they are putting personally hostile words in the mouth of New York's governor. And it's also why they are acting as if they are simply standing with tradition, when it fact they are aggressively standing in the way of fair, free, court-tested recognition that should've been in place for all of the thousands of years to come before, and which inevitably will become the norm for thousands more to come.
