SB48, East Coast style

201110121101As social conservatives in California enter the final seconds of their campaign to roll back inclusive teaching in the state's public schools (deadline today; they don't seem to have the signatures), a NYC councilman is proposing a version for the East Coast's most famous five boroughs:

NEW YORK CITY: Gay Councilman Daniel Dromm Proposes Local Version Of SB 48 [J.M.G.]

Not sure of the chance's. But knowing what I know of my beloved New York City, I can't imagine the level of contrived controversy cooking up here. We are a city that has learned to fold its LGBT people into the population, easily and without much hoopla. Parents in NYC, by and large, are seeing the value of early education about the world's reality, correcting the generations of oversights that have contributed to the misinformation game. The city

I wish Daniel Dromm much luck in ensuring the nation's largest public school system acknowledges the contributions of openly LGBT figures. I wish American much luck in closing the outdated book so we can finally start writing the long overdue one.
