NOM wants people to believe we're violent; says far more about them than us
Paul Blair is a very far-right personality who partnered with Janet Folger Porter on 2010's failed "May Day for America" rally, who rallied for the notoriously anti-gay Sally Kern, who joined a very fringe coalition to condemn CPAC for allowing a gay group as a sponsor, and who even made a ten-minute video wherein he referred to hate crimes legislation as a "Pedophile Protection Act." Right Wing Watch has all the details.
Well now, the same Paul Blair is claiming that he received a harassing phone call after speaking out against Oklahoma City's decision to add sexual orientation to the city's non-discrimination policy. And his willing allies at the National Organization For Marriage are now helping him use this one highly isolated incident (which may or may not have even happened) to indict the entire pro-equality movement. The unbelievably deceptive message that NOM's pushing says "gay groups are becoming more violent":
*SOURCE (Be sure to see the comments that follow NOM's post. They're particularly nasty, even by the usual NOM supporter standard!)
Beyond the pale. If this threatening phone call did happen, then every single gay group denounces it. Obviously. And NOM knows it!
It's just that NOM also knows that victimization is their only hope, so the organization and its staffers would rather bear deceptive witness than lose paychecks. Who cares if an entire population is painted as violent and moralless? It's just gay lives at stake. It's just Christmas time. Who needs good will and peace of Earth when you can have animus and division? Not our dear NOM.
