Audio: Stop SB48 coalition wants to stop sooooo much more
Last night I listened in on an anti-equality movement conference call, where the stated topic was California's FAIR Education Act and how the "pro-family" side is going to try again to overturn it. And while the pretense was all about schools and public policy, I couldn't help but notice one thing: The call organizers' repeated calls for gays to be "saved" from their "lifestyles."
Here's this Stop SB48 coalition's top voice, Karen England, directing a call participant to "ex-gay" groups like Exodus International:
And here's PreserveLiberty.com's Mark Matta, call organizer, offering one of his many prayers for gay people's salvation:
And yet this coalition is trying to stop LGBT-inclusive historical accuracy in public schools because they think it will constitute indoctrination?! All while they are ignoring the whole of credible science in order to make homosexuality seem like something from which a student can play hooky at will? They deserve a big fat "F" for self-awareness/assessment, if nothing else!
That's the thing with these kinds of fights and why they matter to us all, nationwide. It's never just about the stated measure and what it will or will not do in a particular state. In any of these kinds of battles -- EVERY. LAST. ONE. -- there is a massive "gays can and should change" undercurrent. That, the overall attempt to "cure" or "save" us, is the fuel of our opposition movement. We must state that fact -- IT'S A FACT! -- frequently, ably, and LOUDLY.
