Against Mitt, Newt goes to to the 'Mat'
On the days following Judge Vaughn Walker's Aug. '10 ruling on Proposition 8, the Liberty Counsel chastised the "Yes on Marriage" legal team for, among other things, not pushing so-called reparative therapy into the Prop 8 courtroom. Liberty Counsel president Mat Staver even said, point blank, that he wanted to see a defense that directly addressed what he sees as the negative aspects of homosexuality.
Mat's also the kind of conservative voice who will not only oppose something as peaceful as military inclusively, but will actually go so far as to refer to DADT proponents (like openly LGB soldiers, for instance) as "the wicked"

These are just two of the credentials that, naturally, leads a GOP frontrunner like Newt Gingrich to appoint this same Mat Staver to the top of his Florida Faith Leaders coalition:
