Video: The Sanctity of -- GINGRICH?!
Molotov Mitchell has said heinous things about LGBT people, to name just one group. But I'm actually going to give him sincere props on this, his willingness to break from the pack (super pack?) and call out his fellow "pro-family" evangelicals for their bizarre and hypocritical support of one Newton Leroy Gingrich:
On this, he's right. So is Maggie Gallagher, who's been spilling much anti-Gingrich ink. The so-called "values voters" who are rallying behind Gingrich are making a laughing stock out of many of their movement's longheld stands. Chief among those stands? "Marriage protection."
The "protect marriage" crowd holds us to points made by activists during the Carter years. They claim we work from manifestos written before many of us were even born. When they pin something on us, they won't let it go even when the truth that belies their talking points is fully and carefully explained to them. And yet they, the ones who declare one certain standard and template, are telling everyone to just overlook and move on from one of the messiest personal marriage records of any modern political candidate from any party? That's rank hypocrisy, my friends. And as I've been saying for months: If it goes the distance, it will hand us our marriage victory on a silver platter.
