NOM incites godly stoning; we'd have to *be* stoned to see NOM as anything other than religious org.

by Jeremy Hooper

And now the National Organization For Marriage will continue to rid us of any notion that their advocacy is or ever was about anything other than their own biblical beliefs:

Political leaders, business leaders, and even a few religious leaders have all rejected God's truth about marriage. But at the end of the day, it's not about a handful of giants and their assault on marriage. It's about ordinary citizens like you and me, and what we know to be true.

In two months, when voters go to the polls [in North Carolina], every person gets one vote. We can lose only if we fail to step up to the challenge and engage the battle. Victory is within reach, but we can't sit back and expect others to win the battle for us.

Will you stand up against Goliath today?

Even as David rejected the traditional trappings of war, he did not go to battle against Goliath empty-handed. He still took 5 smooth stones and a sling.

Marriage Supporter, your gift today is a "smooth stone" that will help to ensure we have the resources to win this battle, with God's help. We don't have to match our opponents dollar for dollar—but we can't win empty-handed, either.

With God's help, we know who wins in the end!

David vs. The Establishment [NOM]

Not sure why they need God's help, if they already knows who wins in the end, or why they need human help, if they already have God. But I digress.

The larger point here is that NOM, the supposed crusaders of "religious freedom" who used to have a much more politically pragmatic streak, have completely given up on the idea that their work against the C-I-V-I-L marriage license is based on anything other than the org's own faith views. It's remarkably dumb strategy on their part, at least if they want sustainability. I mean, we all know that an "Out of Business" sign is NOM's organizational fait accompli. But here in a world where more and more branches of government are starting to reject the faith-based animus that guides the "protect marriage" movement, it's pretty dim for the one organization to whom the "pro-family" side has outsourced its entire marriage advocacy to be admitting that their motivator is a personal read of "God's truth" rather than a shared concern for constitutional law.
