Maine 'marriage protectors' recruit Peter LaBarbera; our polls get automatic bump

by Jeremy Hooper

To keep fueling a Maine marriage fight that is quickly ditching all pretense of nicety or pragmatism, it's going to take voices who are more than willing to write the word "perversion" on others' marriage screencaps, who call gay soldiers an example of a "decaying society," and who demand that the only way for us to save America is to "re-stigmatize [homosexuality] again in our culture." Namely, voices like the one belonging to Peter LaBarbera:

I'm more than fine with this strategy. We barely "lost" in a Maine marriage fight where the folks on the other side were duplicitous enough to suggest that they are in support of domestic partnerships, with "marriage protection" their only goal. So a fight where the other side comes right out and admits that it's the "homosexuality of Maine" they are trying to stop? I like the odds (if not the reminder of how far some are willing to go to make me dislike us).
