Anti-gay Mainers' new 'protect marriage' tactic = Pro-equality Mainers' PR godsend

by Jeremy Hooper

This was the scene at the recent Maine Democratic Party Convention in Augusta, where one of the PACs fighting against us in November showed up on site for the express purpose of framing gay people as perverts:

While the rest of the group stood with the large signs at the entrance to the Augusta Civic Center Pat Truman went to the front door of the building and handed out over a hundred flyers to delegates as they entered.

The flyer is headlined, "Don't let sexual perversion restructure our society!" It continues with the bold assertion, "What homosexuals do behind closed doors is THEIR business." The forceful push card ends, "Traditional marriage must be reaffirmed NOT redefined."

Wow, how offensive! I mean, hello—sodomy-based should be a hyphenate. How dare they disrespect the sanctity of traditional punctuation to suit their agendas!?

The rest of it? Too ridiculous for outrage. Oh, and too helpful to *our* side to ever greet with discontent.
