God Hates #2 Pencils?

by Jeremy Hooper

Jack Wu attends the notorious "God Hates F*gs" church. If he has his way, Mr. Wu will soon become the Kansas state school board's newest Republican member:

TOPEKA— A Kansas state school board candidate who describes evolution as “Satanic lies” and wants to stop public schools from teaching the theory attends Westboro Baptist, the Topeka church known for anti-gay protests worldwide.

Bad news for those Kansas parents who want their kids to learn respect for all citizens. Good news for those who were hoping local schools would move away from reading, writing, and arithmetic and on to sign-making, funeral-picketing, and monotone-delivered condemnations that imply only fifty or so Kansans who've lived a mostly sheltered life in a closed-off compound doing forced bidding at the tyrannical hand of a reportedly abusive leader hold the keys to life, God, and eternal understanding.
