CWA president Penny Nance: Same-sex marriage = 'legislation of vices'
In a post where she describes marriage equality for same-sex couples as "the wholesale destruction of our society's moral foundation" as judicial decisions that side with same-sex couples as "debauched," Concerned Women For America president (and regular Fox News panelist) Penny Nance goes on to directly compare loving unions like mine to things like sex trafficking and child prostitution:
[W]hen the law rewards something through licensing or benefits, there is always increased activity. Legalization of vices is never a concrete solution. We have seen these effects when marijuana, abortion, sex trafficking, and other immoralities were legalized in our neighboring countries. Specifically, a case study in Germany, which legalized prostitution in 2002, reveals that the amount of sex trafficking victims in the country has risen 70 percent in the last seven years. The Netherlands, believing that the legalization of prostitution as a profitable business would decrease the amount of children sex trafficked, has since seen a 300 percent increase in child prostitution.
A Difficult Righteousness [CWA]
But of course Penny goes on to say that she loves everybody (and Chick-fil-a; no, I'm not kidding), and she also claims that she tries to debate this with respect. You know, because who among us doesn't show our love and respect for our neighbor by likening his or her loving union to some sort of illicit street trade?
