Lots of people searched definition of 'marriage', received gay-inclusive answer

by Jeremy Hooper

It's interesting that both "bigot" and "marriage" ranked so highly...

Merriam-Webster’s Top Ten Words of the Year for 2012 are:

1. socialism and capitalism
2. touché
3. bigot
4. marriage
5. democracy
6. professionalism
7. globalization
8. malarkey
9. schadenfreude
10. meme

…but even more interesting is the fact that all of those people who searched for marriage got a fully-formed definition that reflects the true nature of marriage in this country and worldwide:

That has to really annoy the "definition of marriage" crowd. But considering the way those who push for the globalization of that malarkey of a meme have stifled our democracy, I don't think it undermines my professionalism to admit that their annoyance would give me some sense of schadenfreude.
