IFI ally says to treat gays like drug addicts; IFI president 'likes' it
Linda Jernigan is a professional "ex-gay" aligned with the Illinois Family Institute. Before it was postponed, Linda was announced as a featured speaker for the IFI's Lobby Day on the marriage bill, a role she will likely still play at the rescheduled version of that event (to be held February 20).
So what might Linda say when she goes to Springfield to lobby against civil rights? Well, for insight, have a look at this same Linda Jernigan's plan for gay Illinoisans, which she publicly posted to Facebook:
Homosexuality is an addictive demon and this is the "cure." And remember, this is coming from someone who works directly with Illinois' primary "pro-family" group.
But if that weren't bad enough, look who "Liked" the above status:
None other than Illinois Family Institute president David Smith. This is the man who is currently telling any Illinois lawmaker who will listen that they should vote against civil marriage equality. Is he at least being honest and also telling them that he gives his personal thumbs up to the idea that gay citizens should be treated like alcoholics and drug addicts? Because they might be curious. Just a hunch.
