Illinois' top anti-equality group: Marriage equality = 'human degradation' #il4m

by Jeremy Hooper

Those opposing marriage equality in the Land of Lincoln give legislators another reason to stand against the harshness that has come to define their side of the debate. This time, gay acceptance corrupts the family and degrades the human person:

"There have been times in history during which approval of homosexuality was pervasive. Deviant desire conspired with a host of sophistical ideas, including false religious teachings, to defend homosexuality as good. What these societies shared too was the human degradation and corruption of family integrity that approval of homosexuality brings.

We look at this newest manifestation of the embrace of sexual deviancy and remain blind to the concomitant human degradation. We know history and blithely repeat it, foolishly saying this time it’s different. This time it’s all about love and safety
."

—Laurie Higgins, writing for the Illinois Family Institute, the group that is opposing marriage equality in Illinois

Although I do have to say that I support part of Laurie's theory. It does seem like the more equal rights are approved and accepted, the more determined she and her fellows are to degrade certain kinds of humans. Sadly.
