NOM's 'Anti-Defamation Alliance' spokesman promotes column saying gays must be celibate

by Jeremy Hooper

In a new column, Catholic writer Taylor Marshall condemns homosexuality as a sin and then concludes with this one and only option for gay men and women:

Persons with homosexual inclinations are called to chastity - not matrimony. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection. [Taylor Marshall]

In a new tweet, National Organization For Marriage's spokesman Damian Goddard lends his tacit (if not overt) approval to this stance:

Not a huge surprise, since we've seen "ex-gay" Screen Shot 2013-04-04 At 11.04.28 Am advocacy from Goddard in the past, and he has directly claimed that gays are "basically throwing away a gift that’s been given to you by God." But it's still instructive for us to know this spokesman's beliefs, here at a time when so much attention is on his employer.

Personally, I eagerly await the NOM video where they have Goddard claim that he wants all of the world's gay people to stop having gay relationships and then attempt to spin the opposition as "defamation." That is, after all, the logical extension of the view that the org's "Marriage ADA" spokesman just promoted.
