SBC prez links equality to 'mad man in Asia'; not referring to Don Draper's overseas conterpart

by Jeremy Hooper

Keeping it as fair, rational, and measured as we've come to expect from the Southern Baptist Convention:

Screen Shot 2013-04-01 At 2.36.49 Pm"I would not be surprised that at the time when we are debating same-sex marriage, at a time when we are debating whether or not we should have gays leading the Boy Scout movement, I don’t think it’s just a coincidence that we have a mad man in Asia who is saying some of the things that he’s saying."

Southern Baptist Convention president Fred Luter

Later in this same conversation, Luter connects a future with marriage equality to Sodom and Gomorrah. So if you're detecting a fearful attempt to connect marriages like mine to the destruction of our nation/world, then good—you're paying attention.
