Snowe thaws: (Former) Senator joins (current) trend

Screen Shot 2013-04-05 At 2.15.08 PmOlympia Snowe, who served for eighteen years as a Republican U.S. Senator from Maine, is now coming out for marriage equality:

Now out of Senate, Snowe supports same-sex marriage [CNN]

Snowe joins her successor, Independent Angus King, on history's right side. Unfortunately Snowe's longtime senatorial colleague, moderate Maine Republican Susan Collins, has yet to come around.

it remains to be seen if Collins waits for her own retirement party before stating the support that I (and many others) assume to be the obvious. The depends on whether she wants to write a profile in courage or a profile in convenience.
