Man who hoped to define Boy Scouts by its discrimination will now define gay people for you
John Stemberger, the anti-gay activist who will forever be identified with his militant pushing to keep the Boy Scouts discriminatory against gay adults and minors, thinks he knows what it means to be gay in modern America. Here, let him tell you:
The BSA fails to directly address--and therefore allows under a fair reading of the new policy--flaunting, innuendo, open conversations, symbols, coarse jesting, blunt communications and other highly inappropriate behavior which is an integral part of what it means to be “openly gay” in modern America and for which a boy now “may not be denied membership in the BSA.”
Such behavior is no longer considered “a distraction to the mission of the BSA" for youth which would have previously warranted a denial of membership.

Well someone's been gleaning his gay representations from the sassiest scenes of Bravo reality shows.
But that's completely intentional. To make it seem like he's defending honor and character, Stemberger must dishonor us by turning us into caricatures. That's the game here. Discriminating against gay minors is nasty, and people easily recognize it as it is, which is why Mr. Stemberger doesn't want people to know about the sweet young boy who happens to be gay and who simply wants to join his friends in knot-tying and fire-making. Instead, he wants to turn gay boys into the cattiest characters from an all-male remake of Mean Girls.
