Audio: Tony Perkins vs. humor

by Jeremy Hooper

A caller dialed into Tony Perkins' radio show and claimed that Satan uses humor to persuade the viewing public that homosexuality is okay. The Family Research Council prez was simply giddy to have such a like-mind on the line:

*First voice is the caller

Could he have said "absolutely!" any more emphatically? I haven't heard Tony this agreeable since the time he was asked to eat Chick-fil-A in a Fox News green room while listening to the Duggar kids serenade him with with tuneful recitations of FRC's own press releases.

So now, thanks to Tony and his caller, we know the truth: Satan is a comedy writer who spends his days in Hollywood coffee shops thinking of new plots lines for Mitch and Cam. I would have thought he'd at least go for films instead, what with the heightened caché (not to mention pyrotechnics) typically associated with cinema. But no. It's TV. And the Devil. Convincing America. That I'm normal.
