Hawaii anti-gay group: We must stop the happiness of 'American Idol' contestant Jim Verraros

by Jeremy Hooper

Here is a photograph from the 2009 wedding of season one American Idol contestant Jim Verraros and his husband Bill Brennan. Fausto Fernós of the Feast of Fun blog and podcast took the shot:

But when this photo falls in the hands of a Hawaii anti-equality group, it becomes an apparent sign of inequality. This according to the Hawaii Republican Assembly, which took Fausto's personal photo and used it for this nasty attack:

Guess they were Nikki McKibbin fans.

But wait, it gets worse! Turns out this "values" group also lifted the photo on the left. It's not a Hawaiian wedding, but rather the November 2012 nuptials of a California couple by the names of David and Tracy. Photos, shot by Lin and Jirsa Photography, can be found here.

Not sure if David and Tracy do, in fact, see themselves as better and more deserving of equal rights than Jim and Bill. But I do know that the Hawaiian Republican Assembly just proved itself to be far below ethical organizations that prefer high-minded debate.
