City of Lexington, NC dedicates week to anti-gay Boy Scouts alternative

by Jeremy Hooper

Trail Life USA is the organization that was formed for one reason and one reason alone: because The Boy Scouts of America now accepts gay youth and the Trail Life organizers, led by longtime anti-LGBT activist John Stemberger, do not want increased acceptance of gay people. That being the truth, it's deeply troubling to see (at least) one American city giving this decidedly anti-gay organization its stamp of approval. Literally:

This is official government approval of the idea that gay youth are a controversial sticking point that understandably lead grown adults to splinter from an organization with which they were otherwise satisfied. That's not an overstatement. Trail Life (which agitated under the name "On My Honor" during the national BSA debate) only exists because of the BSA's policy change. Had gay youth never been granted this small measure of acceptance, Trail Life never would have formed.

Horrid move, Lexington, NC.

*NOTE: Trail Life admits that it counsels any kids with "same-sex attractions" to not let it turn into "the gay lifestyle":
