Video: Honolulu Bishop crudely condemns marriage equality before high school audience

by Jeremy Hooper

Saying that we will not be "able to live the good life and the wonders like we have here" (at 1:41) if we accept marriage equality and wrongly suggesting that "the parts don't fit together—literally" (at 1:57), Honolulu Bishop Larry Silva spent his afternoon telling the boys at Damien Memorial School to oppose us and our loving unions. Oh, and (at 2:33) he compared people who tell us "the truth" about our sexualities to trainers who help Olympic athletes better themselves.

An enterprising student filmed it:

Downright obsessed about us. Frankly, I'm surprised he didn't lift up the eggs and sausage on his plate there at the end and paint its proper ordering as yet more proof that men and women are always meant to be together.

But whatever, Bishop. We have civil marriage equality in Hawaii. You enjoy your condemnations.
